It's just a sad song said the peddler to the universe He's just a rider on the train to death Wait for the rights of summer just to lead you in guiding your body with a motion that does not exist whisper calm suggestions of loving you in the afternoon Thinking "oh god", I don't know you CHORUS I'm staying last for one last body It's a body I don't know and it's beginning to show Let's make another count of bodies the bodies I don't know x 2 Running on empty in a field of dreams you can call your own fishing for sympathy from a magazine that made it's way home He's already made you in an empty room, the outskirts of town Put on your best Sunday dress with the grape juice stain on it halfway down CHORUS I'm staying last for one last body It's a body I don't know and it's beginning to show Let's make another count of bodies the bodies I don't know x 2 I'm staying natural Now that it's tangible that a blanket truth could be a lie I cut my losses once in a while I'm saving my own life When it comes to black and white But the gray areas seem much better I force myself to like the weather

When I was younger I knew the big difference from right and wrong as time went by I wondered why that changed I didn't think think would have to take so long We went down to the old train tracks you threw an old railroad spike in the grass I said "My new friend, I hope this don't end I just love this place too much" I've know you since we were kids I hope we can work through all this shit I had this grudge for quite some time, whats yours is yours and whats mine is mine Now It's just fine I know a guy who thinks with his pens he writes his stories again and again he says what he thinks and he thinks what he says, never uses his fists always uses his head and it always makes so much sense We don't got much in our pockets I work everyday just to survive I hope this check will cover the rent, I know you'd pay every other expense If that's what you gotta do Transient in the sense of the word some people live all over the world digging through trash just to get a meal, the smallest things in the world, to some people is a deal at least they're really free Living life by the seat of your luck seeking comfort from the end of a cup all the things you do, I know it's not you, gotta work for it to find happiness, too And that's what you gotta do
